Quickstart
Install the recorder, name the service, and replay your first hour — about ten minutes.
Install the recorder
The recorder is a library, not an agent. It writes the events your service already emits to Fenwright as they happen. Nothing is proxied and no traffic changes path.
npm install @fenwright/recorder
Name the service
One call at start-up. The key is scoped to one service, so a leaked key cannot read another team’s hours.
import { record } from '@fenwright/recorder';
record({
service: 'checkout-api',
key: process.env.FENWRIGHT_KEY,
// Dropped inside your process, never sent.
redact: ['card.pan', 'customer.email'],
});
Replay the first hour
The first window is replayable as soon as it closes. Open it in the app, or pull it to your laptop:
fenwright replay checkout-api --window 02:00-03:00 --tz UTC
fenwright diff checkout-api --window 02:00-03:00 --against last-tuesday
If installation does not go cleanly, write to support. It is answered by the people who wrote the recorder.
